Grads 1

Each year we run a five day residential retreat aimed primarily at people who have attended a Living Well with Pain and Illness or a Living Well with Stress course with one of our accredited trainers. This has become known as the ‘grads’ retreat as it is for Living Well programme graduates.

It's a chance to take your practice of mindfulness deeper as you relax in beautiful surroundings in the countryside. Senior trainers or the Breathworks core team will lead the retreat so it is also an opportunity to meet people with a lot of experience in the Breathworks approach to meditation.

The emphasis is on care and kindness, with a team of trainers who are there to support you in your practice. If you have pain and/or a long term health condition of any sort, then we aim to enable you to benefit from this retreat as much as possible. Please contact our office if you have any queries and we will be happy to discuss them with you.

Retreat programme
We follow a simple programme of meditation, small discussion groups and plenty of free time to enjoy the peace of the countryside.

  • Cost for accommodation, materials and so on is £200. As this does not include tuition, there will be an opportunity to give a donation (dana) at the end of the retreat
  • Next retreat is Sunday 22nd to Friday 27th August 2010
  • Booking form

This retreat is organised and run by Breathworks Manchester CIC

More about Dana
At Breathworks we are committed to making our courses as widely available as possible and in keeping with traditional approaches to mindfulness teaching, we offer all our longer retreats on a Dana basis. Dana means generosity, with each person giving according to his or her means. We believe in helping those whose financial circumstances may restrict their ability to come on retreat, which is why the only ‘fee’ we charge is for fixed expenses such as the hiring of facilities and course materials.

At the end of the retreat we will give you an opportunity to make a donation to contribute to the retreat leaders' expenses as well as the ongoing costs of Breathworks Manchester, a not-for-profit Community Interest Company dedicated to alleviating the suffering of others. Any surplus funds are used to provide for those who may have difficulty funding their participation in our mindfulness-based programmes and retreats.
