A Nine Week Mindfulness-Based Course Breathworks offers mindfulness-based self management courses for living well to anyone wishing to live a richer life and feel a greater sense of initiative and confidence. What is Mindfulness? Mindfulness is a state of present moment attention where you can clearly perceive thoughts, physical sensations, emotions and events at the moment they occur without reacting in an automatic or habitual way. This means you can make choices as to how you respond to things and have a rich and fulfilling life, even when experiencing difficult circumstances. Who is this course suitable for? The course is suitable for anyone – of any religion or no religion - who experiences intermittent or persistent pain and people experiencing all kinds of ill-health and illness. The course is also suitable for people who are stressed, tense, suffer from sleep problems and headaches. The programme is open to all on a self-referral basis. So far Breathworks have welcomed people with conditions such as: chronic back pain (the majority), arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, post-operative pain, cancer, nervous disorders, MS, Parkinson’s disease, and other non-specific pain. This list is not exhaustive and your enquiry is welcome no matter what your conditions. Breathworks and Research Breathworks takes research seriously and continually evaluates the clinical effects of the mindfulness-based pain management programme. What will the course include?
Course details
Trainer This course is led by accredited Breathworks Trainer Dh. Vajracaksu Testimonials “I would like to tell you that I very much enjoyed the whole Breathworks course, your teaching and this new realm of meditation you helped me to discover. I also enjoyed getting to know you” Dr. Berna Kılınç, February 2010, (Philosophy Lecturer, Bogazici University) “I learnt to meditate during the Breathworks course and I’m learning to cherish the present moment. Also I’ve become bolder at making decisions in my personal life… This was an excellent opportunity for me to join the course and get to know you personally. You are an excellent role model for demonstrating what effect meditation and mindfulness can have on a person. The programme is excellent, I’m looking forward to attending any other sessions or courses you offer. Thanks a lot” Sevgin Adiguzel, November 2009 (GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare General Manager for Turkey)"I am now much more happy, positive and calm as a result of attending and completing the Breathworks course. Thank you so much for your wonderful work, it was a pleasure to participate." Nebahat Erpolat, May 2009 (Choreographer) “Even though many of the concepts of the course were familiar to me before the course, to have them presented in a structured way each week was very helpful. Thank you very much for a wonderful course. Your kindness and spirit helped us all.” April 2009 (Clinical Psychologist) “I learned to actively be aware of our breath and make use of its essence and presence. The ‘calling on’ my inner breath as an aid to calm and focus my thoughts or actions proved beneficial right away.” Sarah Martin Hergüner, February 2009 (Infant School Teacher) "I approached Vajracaksu for some guidance, as I battled with breast cancer for the second time in my life. I have been meditating regularly for the past 20 years, and have found, that it really helps me in daily life.We were guided through various meditation techniques and body and breath awareness exercises. We were given homework, some weeks it was easier and some weeks more demanding. I enjoyed the practise a lot and benefited from it. Normally I do not suffer from chronic pain or pain, but at that time, because of my treatment, I did have a lot of pain in my right arm for several weeks, and the body scan and breath awareness helped me tremendously. There were about 3 weeks during the course, when I really struggled to get there and was in tears a few times, but my energy levels and morale was always so good after the class, that I really give credit to the course and also to Vajracaksu for leading it so professionally. For anybody living with chronic pain or high stress, in fact for anybody enjoying meditation, I can highly recommend the course and Vajracaksu, our teacher. I am cancer free and pain free now and my energy level is nearly back to normal. I of course continue with my meditation programme and vary it now with the guided meditation CDs from the course. I thank Vajracaksu for his guidance through the course." E.H. Acupuncturist (January 2011) |
