Who is it for?
This training is for anyone who is:
- intending to be a mindfulness mrainer or a Breathworks Living Well Mindfulness Trainer
- working or intending to work with people living with pain and/or other illness
- intending to teach mindfulness in their own profession
Requirements for attending teacher training
Prior to attending the teacher training part 1 course you will have:
- completed the foundation course
- established a regular mindfulness meditation practice of at least one year’s duration
- written some meditation diaries
Part 1
This part explores a range of topics to help develop skills for teaching mindfulness based approaches and activities using Breathworks material, including:
- the role of the mindfulness trainer
- leading guided meditations
- group dynamics
- teaching and learning styles
Trainees will be asked to do a presentation and lead a meditation with a small group in a supportive environment. You will be asked to give and receive constructive feedback.
Prior to attending the teacher training part 2 course you will have:
- completed all required reading
- written movement and daily activity diaries
- attended a mindful movement weekend
Part 2
The second part helps trainees consolidate and build on these teaching skills as well as develop and extend their personal mindfulness meditation practice. Topics will include:
- the use of poetry in teaching
- the use of ‘enactments’ in teaching
- ethical practice
- meeting the UK Network of Mindfulness Trainers Guidelines
Teacher training outcomes
On successful completion of this programme participants will be able to:
- deliver a comprehensive range of mindfulness-based skills and activities to patient groups
- progress to the Breathworks Living Well Trainers Programme if they wish to
A certificate of accreditation as a Mindfulness Trainer will be given on completion of the course.
